Melissa has supported many individuals in their journey to recovery, serving clients from The Centre for Addiction and Mental Health, in the Eating Disorder and Addictions Unit, and from Danielle’s Place Eating Disorder and Resource Centre.  She is co-author of the book, Eating Disorders, Causes, Diagnosis, and Treatments. Melissa recognizes the importance of not just addressing the eating disorder symptoms and behaviours, but also looking at the root causes of the eating disorder, in order to help people live healthy and fulfilling lives.  Melissa uses a holistic approach taking her training in mindfulness-based interventions ‎(ACT), DBT, CBT, Narrative Therapy, Expressive Therapies, and Emotional Freedom Technique, otherwise known as “tapping therapy,” to help her clients gain awareness of the connections between their mind, body, and spirit, so they can gain deeper understandings of themselves and work towards greater self-awareness, self-esteem, and self-acceptance.

On her spare time, Melissa is an active advocate for raising awareness for eating disorders and is also a Reiki practitioner.
