Body Brave Essentials Program

The Essentials Program is designed for those struggling with body image, disordered eating, and eating disorders. 

This 9-week program is focused on skill-building, behavioural change and insight development. This is not intended as treatment but rather as support and guidance. It is not a substitute for treatment. 

The program will guide participants through 8 modules addressing symptom management, thoughts, emotions & behaviours, distress tolerance, interpersonal skills, as well as goal setting and building a happier, healthier life. Skills come from the evidence-based practices of DBT (Dialectical Behavioural Therapy) and CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) as well as meditation, mindfulness and gentle yoga. 

Participants commit to 8, 2.5-hour group sessions and 1 day long workshop. Groups are co-facilitated by family doctor and trained psychotherapist Dr. Karen Trollope and eating disorder survivor and peer support worker, Sonia Seguin. Each participant will also receive 4 individual psychotherapy sessions with Dr. Karen Trollope to express concerns, work through individual issues and delve deeper. 

The program is limited to 8 participants to keep groups intimate and to maximize individual attention.

Group sessions- Tuesdays 7-9:30pm

Individuals sessions- Thursdays, 50 minutes, between 1 and 5pm

Cost: This program is partially covered by OHIP.  Program cost is on a sliding scale. 

$320 (includes tax, custom Body Brave guide & workbook, 8 group sessions, 1 day long workshop, 4 individual psychotherapy sessions)

Maintaining recovery Group

For those in active recovery. This group meets every week to discuss topics around how to maintain recovery. Skills, peer support and other resources will be offered to participants each week. Facilitated by peer support worker and eating disorder survivor Sonia Seguin, as well as family doctor and psychotherapist, Dr. Karen Trollope. We also have guest speakers drop into this group as available. 

Mondays, 7-8pm

Cost: $15/per session or $100/8 sessions (includes handouts & herbal tea)  Program cost is on a sliding scale.

At Body Brave, we have three qualified professionals offering psychotherapy- Clare Cruickshank, Melissa Di Fonzo & Karen Trollope. Our psychotherapists offer tools that will help those suffering from anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, body image issues, eating disorders and disordered eating. Skills and practices offered come from Dialectical Behavioural Therapy and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy as well as other modalities. Book an initial client consult to find out who might be a good fit for you. 




Meditation & Gentle yoga


Join us for one of our hour long gentle yoga and/or meditation classes offered by one of our trained yoga teachers. Calm the body and mind through movement. Please wear comfortable clothing. Body Brave offers a safe, body positive space.

Meal Planning 

For many, meal planning is an important but daunting task during recovery. Join Body Brave to plan your next 3 meals or a week's worth of meals- it's up to you & where you are in your recovery. You'll receive peer support, skills & a safe space. Reference materials, handouts & templates will help to make the process easier. Please note that we simply offer suggestions & do not require anyone to follow a certain plan. For some, meal planning is not necessary. We acknowledge that what's right for someone else may not be right for you.

Learn to meditate workshops (6 sessions)


During these engaging workshops, you'll learn a variety of meditation techniques. Taught by Mira, a meditation teacher with over 10 years of experiences, you'll learn about:

How & why meditation works (the science of meditation), various meditation techniques, how to cultivate a home practice, posture & when to practice & you'll get an opportunity to ask questions & engage in dialogue. 

Limited spaces available. Register for the all 6 weeks or for individual classes (pay at the door). 

Dates: Sundays, October 15 & 29, November 5, 12, 19 & 26, December 3, 10am- 12pm

Body Image Workshops

This 2-session program offers tools and skills to help you begin to heal your relationship with your body. Join us for 4 hours of mindful movement, skill building, meditation, mindfulness and more! 

November 10th and 17th, 6:30-8:30pm


$50/ 2 sessions (includes materials and refreshments)

These 50-minute sessions will offer participants 3 new skills shown to be effective in the treatment of eating disorders, disordered eating and body image issues. Participants will walk away with a set of tools they can put into practice right away. The efficacy of these skills is backed by evidence-based research. Skills offered come from a wide range of approaches including: Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), Yoga & Mindfulness. 

$12/per person

Paint & Meditate

A workshop blending art with meditation. Tap into your creativity with colours as you relax using meditation techniques. This 2.5-hour workshop will blend the painting of mandalas with two guided meditations. 

Mandalas are patterns or geometric shapes. Each one is unique & incredibly beautiful!
